Company was built in 1917 by Henry Leland . The focus of this company at the
time was to produce airplane engines for WWI fighter vehicles. After the War the
company started to manufacture automobiles. The struggling postwar recession
left the newly formed company stressed. In 1922, however, Henry Ford bought the
company. At that time they became Ford’s luxury vehicle.
